The point is, your dog probably doesn’t realize you’re doing it and might be getting confused when you’re watching your TV channels. But, I’ll tell you what, I’m pretty sure your dog is not going to be a member of the family until he’s a teenager and can take away your TV from you.

Speaking of that, I think a recent trend in our society has been for dog owners to start using their pets to do all the chores around the house, like cleaning, vacuuming, and the like. When I was a kid, I had a dog that did all of that for me. He was my constant companion, and if I wanted to go to the bathroom I would just get up and give him a good yap.

I have to agree with the other commenter. I have a dog of my own, and I have come to hate that he’s so dominant in the house. He gets all the attention, and no matter how many times I say “no” or “stop” he will demand to be the alpha in the house. I think this stems from his lack of imagination and his penchant for getting himself in trouble.

This is really a pet mania thing. I have two dogs, a black lab mix named Lola and a yellow lab named Bambi. Lola is my little “little guy,” and when she is having a hard time getting some attention from her man dog, I just give her a yap all big and loud.
