It’s just a couple years old, but I remember the first time I used it. The store was in an old school building on Sixth Street, just a block or two from my home in the suburbs. I was standing in the shoe department, making sure I’d bought the right size for my feet, when I saw the Runboo sign above the register. It was a really beautiful sign, a giant pink handprint pointing at the sky.
I have never seen it since, but I always thought it was pretty cool. The Runboo team was founded by Tom and Andy, two young students at the time who wanted to create a store that would be unique and fun, and they knew I wanted to buy into it. So I bought some shoes and took them home, never taking them out of my house again for the rest of my life.
The Runboo store was always a very small operation at the time, with only a couple of employees. The store is still very small, but it’s a step up from the Runboo store in my opinion. You can still get your feet all nice and comfy in the Runboo store, but you can also get your feet all nice and comfy in the Runboo store.
