It’s always nice to have new and creative ways to entertain our guests! This fun little appetizer was created by the owner of the home I bought into. I just love the way these little eyes look in the center of each slice.
The snakeskin is actually a traditional Chinese design. The snakes were used to signify wealth. The eyes were created using a stone that would glow in the dark. The stones were placed in the eye sockets and then covered with a layer of wax. This would seal the eye in, and the venom would be drawn into the stone eyes.
The best way to keep those eyes looking sharp? If you are willing to take a little risk and try to add some glow and sparkle to them, that’s what they will look like.

A recent study from the University of Chicago found that people who see their own reflection better than others saw their own eye color. Why? Well, it turns out that when we see ourselves we typically see our eyes as a darker hue; when we see someone else, we see a lighter hue. So if you see yourself looking as bright and shiny as you think you do, then you may be right.
Well, the good news is that we can do something about that. Just like how we can turn our sunglasses into a pair of glasses that makes us look like we are wearing sunglasses, we can literally turn our own eyes into a pair of snakes. And so our eyes will be like sharp spikes stabbing into a person’s pupils, causing them to jump out of their sockets and blood to flow from their eyes.
The third level of self-awareness is the second level of self-preservation, and we have to deal with the fact that we are not able to recognize our own minds and feelings. We can’t just walk around a room with the same eyes closed and pretend we are thinking like them. We’ve got to learn to recognize our own minds and feelings. It’s easier to learn that self-preservation isn’t just about self-preservation.
We are not able to recognize our own feelings and reactions because we are all too easily fooled by the illusions of what our own desires and thoughts are. A person who is able to recognize their own emotions, and recognize their motivations, will be more effective and will be able to work against the powers that be. An important part of the learning process is the process of self-awareness.
The point is: you can’t avoid it. We are all like that. We always have been.
