Two More Editors Depart G/O Media in Ongoing Exodus

On Thursday, computer game columnist Jason Schreier reported his acquiescence from gaming news site Kotaku. Schreier refered to a falling apart relationship with parent organization G/O Media as the justification his exit, adding to a developing rundown of withdrew workers who have communicated dissatisfaction with G/O. 

“I’ve experienced a great deal with this organization. Since 2012, we’ve experienced a ton of the executives movements and acquiescences and firings and show,” Schreier revealed to The Washington Post. “I’ve experienced a ton of disastrous movements since it generally felt like, through everything, we were guided by individuals who consistently thought often about news coverage, and sadly, I don’t know that is the case any longer.”

G/O Media obtained Kotaku in a deal from Univision in 2019 notwithstanding Gizmodo, The Onion and other previous Gawker-claimed news sources. In its new administrative role, G/O Media notoriously lost the whole article staff of the games and culture site Deadspin to mass renunciations. Schreier highlighted the board’s decree to previous Deadspin acting supervisor in boss Barry Petchesky to “stick to sports” as the second he understood a change was required. 

Furthermore, on Wednesday, Gizmodo manager in boss Kelly Bourdet reported her own renunciation. They are the most recent in a developing number of prominent takeoffs under G/O going back a while. In December, columnist Cecilia D’Anastasio distributed a goodbye piece in which she vigorously reprimanded the organization’s administration and dynamic. In January, columnists Gita Jackson and Joshua Rivera surrendered because of worries about G/O.
