I found this Virginia Tech Baseball schedule on the internet and thought it would be fun to share it with you.
I’ve been playing baseball since I was a junior in high school, although I had a very brief stint in the minor leagues, which was pretty much the last time I played catch with a stick. I still have some of the stick from that time, and I’m going through that now at a baseball camp. It’s nice to be back in the sticks once again, even if I have to be the one running around the field.
That’s right, we are back in the sticks. Yes, Virginia Tech baseball’s back where it belongs, in the Big Time. This season will be the third straight for the Hokies. After playing the majority of their schedule at home in 2012, the Hokies will be playing all of their home games this season.
Yes Virginia Tech baseballs still exist. Yes, they are the place where the Hokies play every single game, and of course the team is still making a run at the College World Series. But you won’t find a bunch of girls on the field in the stands or the locker rooms. The Hokies are a professional baseball team and they are very good. But they aren’t really doing anything special right now.
The Hokies will play an 11 inning game each night this season, and they will not be competing in the CWS. This is a very important point because Virginia Tech does not compete in the CWS with anyone else. But with the exception of some home games against Big East opponents, the Hokie schedule is basically the same as what it has been for the past 4 years.
The CWS is considered to be a “cluster” conference that teams from mid and south-eastern states are considered to be very good at. The Hokies have been a very good team since they have been a member of the Big East conference, but they are not good enough to be considered one of “the best” teams in a CWS tournament, so they will not compete in the CWS.
Virginia Tech is the only team from the mid and south-eastern states in the CWS, and as a result they are not considered to be the best team in a CWS tournament. Their best chance of winning a CWS title is if they beat a team from the Virginia Commonwealth Conference (which is considered by many to be the best conference in the country). And Virginia Tech is not considered to be the best team in their conference, so it’s not going to happen.
Virginia Tech has an amazing schedule, with an undefeated ACC and five SEC games in the past seven games. And with a CWS tournament, they are one of two teams who have no chance of even qualifying for the tournament, and the other team is unlikely to make the tournament anyway.
Virginia Tech is also the only school in the league which isn’t affiliated with a major league team. In fact, Virginia Tech is the only team in the conference that isn’t affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The other teams affiliated with the NCAA are in the American Athletic Conference (which includes the Atlantic Coast Conference), Big East Conference, Big South Conference, American Athletic Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, Missouri Valley Conference, and Mid-American Conference.
Virginia Tech is clearly the best school in the ACC in my opinion, though I suppose that might be because of the way it is so close to Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. As for the other teams, they are pretty much the same as they are with the exception of the Big East Conference, and the Big South Conference. The American Athletic Conference is the only one with their own bowl game, so it’s not like they can get all of the revenue from their bowl game.
