This week has been a whirlwind of new posts and a lot of back-to-work updates.
Our own veterinarian, Dr. Jeff, is the main focus of the team, and we recently re-released Vet Tech Week 1 for free on our website. We’re offering it again for a limited time, and we’re hoping it will get more people interested in veterinary tech.
Vet Tech Week 1 is a free weekly email that is packed with useful and entertaining content about what we’ve learned about veterinarians, their practices, and their patients. It is organized by Dr. Jeff, and is aimed at veterinarians who are interested in veterinary tech.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t able to get much out of Vet Tech Week 1. But the main thing I found was that vet tech is a pretty niche field and a lot of vets are too busy to get involved with it (or are just too afraid). There are plenty of other fields that we have more expertise in, so Vet Tech Week 1 was a great opportunity to get more people talking about veterinary tech.
But it is interesting to me that not everyone is involved in the industry. That is the most important thing. If you are not involved in the industry, it can be hard to talk about other topics.
Vet tech is a relatively new field, so there’s still a ton of room for growth. I think the biggest thing to remember is that in general, we are a pretty small group of people that interact with one another. This is because a lot of people don’t understand how the industry works. We are a pretty small group of people who do a lot of similar jobs, yet we do it all differently.
Vet tech is a field that is constantly changing. In the old days, it was the case that most vets were extremely competent and knowledgeable. As the industry grew, there were more and more people who wanted to come in and work. The fact is that vets need to be more collaborative. They need to know that other vets arent the only ones who are competent in a certain area and they need to be able to talk about what their strengths are and what their areas of concern are.
That’s why one of the things that we do is run a weekly vet tech talk. We call it Tech Talk because it’s a lot about talking about tech in general. The talk is for the vets who are working in the field. It’s also for the people who are new to the field who don’t think they are capable of doing it right. We teach them a lot of the things they need to know in order to work in the field.
Tech talks are great because they put it in the hands of those who are capable of doing it, but the vet tech talk is also great because its the perfect opportunity to show someone the latest and greatest. Like a lot of our stuff, these tech talks are really about showing off not just the newest and best, but also the old and most valuable.
Tech talks can often be very frustrating for the people participating because the people doing the talking are usually not familiar with the same tech and don’t have the knowledge to keep themselves up to date. The vet tech talk was a great opportunity to show newbies like me that there are people out there who are doing a lot of the work. The newbies themselves were amazed at the things that were being done so they felt like they were doing a lot of the work themselves.
