The two states that currently have the most people with a tech education in the US, Texas and Iowas have a very different approach to this. In Texas, an employee must pass the Texas Tech University (TTU) test before they can obtain a job. The education test is a 3-hour long test that tests both the student and the teacher. As an Iowan, you can’t get a job in either state without a tech education.
While this may be a bit of a disconnect from the way that Iowans tend to view things, that’s because Texans are generally more open to new ideas. The Tech test is the norm in Texas, and Iowans are more open to taking new and different ideas if they have the time to learn them. This is a very different approach from Iowans who are still trying to figure out how to be a successful businessperson.
A typical response I’ve heard from students around the country is “I wish I had the time to learn more about technology, so I could do my own research.” In a lot of cases, this is a great answer, but in some cases, it’s not (example: I have no idea what you mean by “my own research”). That said, Iowans are more open to learning and adapting new ideas, and this is a good sign for the future.
Tech is a lot like any other type of industry, it all depends on the people involved and the way they do it as well as the tools they use to create it. I would say that I’m more in the camp of “if it was easy to do it, no one would do it”.
I find I tend to agree with you though. I think that if someone thinks something is impossible, they may not do it. The reality is that most people that I have seen have tried something and failed, they have had to come up with a better solution. It is that second point that people are missing. There are a lot of people that have tried something before and failed. But there are a lot of people that have tried something and succeeded.
This point is the first time that I’ve seen texas tech mentioned here. The idea of texas tech is to create the tech that was used to create texas tech. The idea is that you can create the tech used to create texas tech, and then replicate it. The idea is that it is a completely new process. So, the next time someone says it is impossible, it is a good idea to just say that this is not a tech problem.
