I was at the Athens International Airport (AIA) for my first visit to America since arriving from Greece in 2003. When I learned that the hotels were pet friendly, I was beyond excited. I checked in, paid for my trip, and was off to the races.
A pet friendly hotel is one that has room for pets and/or children, and/or that allows pets on the premises. This is a good thing because it also means that hotels can be more accommodating for guests with pets. And if the hotel is pet-friendly and dog-friendly, that would be even better.
It’s important to note that pet-friendly hotels are not a new concept. They have been around for a while, but they have become more common in the last decade or so. In many cases, pet-friendly hotels are ones that do not allow pets on the premises. One hotel in Athens that I had a chance to check in to was pet-friendly, but it did not allow dogs. The cat wasn’t allowed in either.
Some hotels allow dogs on the premises, and some pet-friendly hotels do not. One thing that is very clear though, is that pets aren’t going to be welcome at any of the pet-friendly hotels we’ve been to. In fact, in most of the pet-friendly hotels we’ve been to, the hotel staff didn’t seem to be bothered by pets or dogs at all.
This may seem like a small issue, but it is a big one. Not only is pets not welcome in pet-friendly hotels, but people are often the ones who decide when a pet is welcome. When I was the manager of a pet-friendly hotel in the US, I was told that I would have to get a special license to allow my dog to stay at my hotel.
So how do you prevent people from arbitrarily creating rules about animals coming to your hotel? Well, luckily for us at Athens, Ga, we live in a state where the residents of Athens Ga have created a state-wide pet friendly hotel ordinance. So we at Athens Ga Pet Friendly Hotels know how to protect your pets at all costs.
This ordinance was passed in response to a petition written by a resident of Athens, Georgia. The petition, titled “Your Pet in Athens: Do Not Be Baned From Meeting Your Pets at Your Hotel”, has over two-thirds of the signatures in support of it. The petition is basically a list of complaints about hotels in Athens. So what does the ordinance actually do? It prohibits pet owners from making rules about how pets are allowed to stay in their hotels.
While the ordinance is a step in the right direction, we’re not sure how much the law will affect the business of hotels. This is a city full of tourism, so hotels will probably always need to worry about who they can trust to look after their guests and pets.
It really seems as if hotels are having a hard time understanding how important pet-friendly hotels are. In the United States, we have more than 100 million pet owners. Many of them have their pets as part of their daily routines, such as walking them to the nearest veterinary office, or walking them to the bus stop. Pets can be a huge advantage for hotels, and having a pet-friendly hotel is a great way to draw more people to a property.
There are many pet-friendly hotels in the U.S. like the Marriott’s Pet Friendly Resort, the Hilton’s Pet Friendly Inn, and many others. There are also many pet-friendly hotels in the UK like the Hilton’s Pet Friendly Hotel and the Mimi’s Hotel. In Athens, pet-friendly hotels are easy to find in the city and in surrounding areas.
