If you want to do something you dont want to do, you have to do it for the right reasons. I think this is where the whole idea of a startup comes into play. The best companies hire the smartest people and get the best engineers they can. There are only so many people that can do that job. Companies that can pay someone to do it will.
There are a ton of software engineers who are looking for work. Maybe the best way to get them is to hire them. Or, more likely, the best way to get them is to get a job at a company that has employees who are looking for work. Not all companies can afford it. Most companies only have a few employees who are looking for work, so they have to get them.
I think it is important to make sure the company is hiring. There are tons of companies out there that are just sitting on their hands. This is how many companies get into trouble. There is not a shortage of jobs.

You can also look for companies that have lots of job postings. You can even look for companies that have more than just a few job postings. With the right skills, it’s easy to get a job at a company that has lots of openings.
