I have been known to use tech knits on a daily basis, and I have found that they are a great alternative to yarns. Technology has become so much more portable and easy to use that I can spend whole days not knitting, and I can do so without any negative effects. I am in no way advocating to knit a sweater to wear in the winter or any other season, but when there is no time to knit, they are a great alternative.
Tech knits are not the only thing that I might consider using for knitting. There are many other things that I might consider using for knitting. One of the best things I have found is the use of the new Kaffeeklatsch hand knitting machine. I’ve used this a couple times in the past year (at the library and at a yarn store), and it allows me to knit in much easier ways.
I think the most important thing that I was taught about knitting is that it is a hobby, as opposed to a craft. I think this is mainly because I have never had the leisure time to knit. Like most things, I was given a list of things I need to do (like buy yarn and needles) and then I was asked to do something else (like make a sweater). I think this is the main reason why I have always been so bad at knitting.
Yarn that is good enough to knit with is good enough for me. What I’m getting at here is that I have been on a knitting kick for many years, in the past I didn’t buy any yarn because I didn’t need it, now it’s time for me to get back to it.

You can knit with good yarn, bad yarn, old yarn, or you can just not knit at all. The most important thing to remember is that your choices will make a big difference in how your sweater gets made.
