We all have a pet at some point in our lives and if you have one it’s a safe bet your home would be filled with the scent of your pet. If you’re like us, your home is a haven for your pets. Although they do look up to us from a distance, we don’t get too close and we know what they need.
My sister uses a wooden pet bed as a hide out for our cats. She gets them used to my sister and I being home at night and lets them out at the end of the day for some fresh air and a nap.
My sister and I like to think that a “wooden” pet bed is just a fancy name for a real wooden bed. I dont know about you, but the wood is what keeps our cats warm in winter and our dogs safe from anything nasty. The real reason is that wooden beds are actually very sturdy. They are made from a piece of hardwood that is then painted, which makes them far more scratch-resistant than any other hardwood.
I have always had a soft spot for an old wooden bed. The reason is that, once you break down the wood and paint it, it is very sturdy, and it is something that I could always count on being clean and in good shape. You can also add blankets, comforters, and pillows to this bed just to make it comfortable.
If you have the money, or are thinking about buying a cheapo wooden bed, I recommend you save the money and buy a new one. If you don’t have the money, or are not going to buy one, it is worth taking a look at the options.
A cheap bed is like a cheap car. It’ll do just fine if you keep it clean and oil it. But you will look like a fool when you finally get your new bed in good shape and it breaks down because of the cheap wood. I once had a cheap wooden bed that was so old that the owner had to clean it out and repaint it. After that, I saw a dozen other cheap beds that were just as bad.
I think that’s the main problem with cheap wood. It doesnt last the life of it’s owner (or the life of your room). It can get damaged from excessive moisture, be left in a home that is not well insulated, or simply be scratched or worn. Once it’s scratched, it can’t be repaired. But that also means that cheap wood is never worth it.
I was recently in a home that was built with cheap wood. The house’s owner just started using wood again after years living with cheap wood. I think that he would have been better off buying the cheapest wood available and reselling it.
I’m not saying that wood should never be used, but I think that cheap wood from the factory should be used. The fact that cheap wood is still a good deal enough to get you through a few weeks of winter makes me feel like I got more respect for cheap wood than most.
I don’t think buying cheaper wood is a good idea. When you buy cheaper wood, you are basically giving your money to the wood company to re-grow the wood. Instead, why not try getting wood on your own terms? That way you are getting the right wood for the job, you are making your own decisions about the wood (and the quality), and you are not just putting your money down on the wood company.
